Villages of Laʻi ʻŌpua — Village 2

Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi Island · Homestead Community

About the Project

Villages of Laʻi ʻŌpua — Village 2 is the next chapter in one of the most significant homesteading communities on Hawaiʻi Island. Located in Kealakehe, North Kona — on 41 acres of DHHL Trust Lands within the larger 572-acre Laʻi ʻŌpua master-planned community — Village 2 will deliver approximately 200 new homes for Native Hawaiian families ready to put down roots on the ʻāina.

Built in three to four phases, Village 2 continues Kalanianaʻole Development's commitment to creating pathways to homeownership that are accessible, dignified, and designed for the long term.

A Community Built for Families

Village 2 will offer an approximately equal mix of for-sale homes and affordable rental units — ensuring that Native Hawaiian families at every income level have a genuine pathway to living on Hawaiian home lands. The modular construction approach, in partnership with Samsung C&T, brings both quality and efficiency to delivery, keeping costs manageable without compromising on the homes families deserve.

This is not just housing. It is generational wealth, cultural connection, and community — built on land that was always meant for the lāhui.

Project Highlights

  • ~200 homes · 3–4 phases · ~41 acres

  • DHHL Trust Lands · Kealakehe, North Kona

  • ~50/50 for-sale and affordable rental mix

  • Samsung C&T modular construction

  • Part of the 572-acre Laʻiʻōpua master-planned community

  • Continuation of Kalanianaʻole Development's Laʻiʻōpua portfolio alongside Village 4 Hema

Part of a Larger Vision

Village 2 is one piece of a broader commitment Kalanianaʻole Development has made to the Laʻi ʻŌpua community. Together with Village 4 Hema — currently underway with 125 homes — the two villages represent a total of 525 homes being delivered to Native Hawaiian families across North Kona. This is what building for the lāhui looks like at scale.
